Amsterdam has a very healthy bar scene with trendo designer joints almost rivalling the more traditional 'brown bar ' (yes, they are brown).

And while you're out on the piss, we heartily recommend you try some of the local beers. Amstel, Heineken, and Grolsch are all in their local draught versions, stronger and tastier than the piss we get over here. And there are also some sumptuous local beers worth investigating.
