dark ambient
neither fast nor slow, not upbeat, not downbeat, maybe no beat at all

DAILY MUSIC LOG - 18th January 2001

Bjork - Verandi (mp3) fairly painless reg req
The small-but-perfectly-formed one gets locked inside the studio overnight during the Vespertine sessions and decides to record her anguish (in her native tongue by the sound of it). Much more than just an out-take. This orchestral number loops and soars and then tosses you aside.

Thomas Leer - Cell Structure (mp3)
Cerebral electronic twitching. Ambient, yet driven. Pushes all the right buttons, but there's something cold at the heart of this track, as though it were music created for robots.

Tweaker - Linoleum (mp3)
Dark introspective rumblings from Nine Inch Nails drummer Chris Vrenna. Pleading in a sort of Bowie way. Smooth in a Brian Ferry way. Inspired by a painting by Joe Sorren.

Saloon - Song For Hugo (mp3)
Moody electronica that drifts gently in and out of orchestral and choiral melodics. Bliss on a stick, basically.
