A nice surprise while unpacking my holiday holdall this morning: in the pocket of my blue shorts was a 500 drachma note. I took it to Thomas Cook... Me: I've just got back from Greece and I found this
in my bag. Girl: (Laughing). I don't know if I've got enough
money in the drawer to cover that. Me: Ha ha. Yeah. I know it's only a quid, but it
was either change it or throw it away. Girl: (Laughing). It's not even a pound. It's 89
pence. Me: Yes, but add it to the 11 pence I already have
in my pocket and that equals a scratchcard, which could convert itself
into fifty thousand quid! Girl: (Still laughing). I'm sure it could. Here you
go, 89 pence. If your scratchcard comes up make sure you come back and
take me out for dinner. Me: It's a sure thing. She thought I was joking, but I did have 11 pence
in my pocket, and I did add it to my drachma windfall, and I did buy a
scratchcard. Time to see what I've won...
