Oh boy do the Dutch like filling their cakeholes. Amsterdam is packed solid with restaurants, cafes, snack shops, and strange automated walk-in vending machines.

Overall the food is good, but the centre is blighted with touristy feed holes. Those endless grills and meaty places which keep the bowel cancer generation happy.

Stay out of the centre (or use our guide) and your colon will remain pure.

Watch out though. Dutch service is variable. In the touristy places, the waiters willl be all over you. In the cooler, off-the-beaten track hangouts, however, they'll barely acknowledge your existence.

The trick is not to be in a rush. Take your time. Bring a book. Deep breath. Relax...
